Meet Jessy – Trauma-Informed Therapist for Individuals
Works out of the Waterloo location & Virtual
I’m Jessy a Registered Social Worker. I work with individuals ranging from the age of 12 to older adulthood. I provide a warm, welcoming, non-judgemental, trauma-informed environment. I use a compassionate and curious lens to slow things down and create a space for you to fully connect with yourself so you are better equipped to connect with others in your life.
I have experience working with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, addiction, ADHD, relationship concerns, difficulty sleeping, life transitions, stress, PTSD, Complex PTSD, Trauma, and Dissociative Identity Disorder.
Using modalities such as Mindfulness, Internal Family Systems Theory, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Polyvagal Theory with a compassionate and curious lens. My hope is that together we will get to uncover the true essence of who you are meant to be. With practical tools, exercises, and being present- my goal is that you will find the shift and answers you are looking for.
I hold a Master’s of Social Work from the University of Waterloo. I have completed Level 1 of Internal Family Systems Theory and have also attended workshops on Mindfulness, Dialectical Behaviour and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I have also Completed Level 1 of the Gottman method. I have experience working with individuals through life transitions, trauma, addictions, anxiety, and relationship problems.
In session I provide a comfortable, warm and genuine environment that is safe and attuned to your needs. We move at a pace that you are comfortable with. I enjoy bringing creative elements to session that will help you get out of your head and into your heart space. Using grounding techniques and exercises to release stress and tension.
I have a particular interest in working with people who have patterns, addictions or elements of themselves that they are frustrated with and looking to change. I enjoy getting to create a space where the ugliest parts of ourselves can be welcomed and seen.
Outside of the Therapy room I am often found in the kitchen cooking for my family and friends. I enjoy mixing flavours, creating new recipes and eating nourishing food. Along with food, time in nature and reading books are my happy place. I like to think that in the same way I enjoy mixing different flavours together I have a variety of tools, and perspectives to bring into sessions with clients.
I’d be honoured to connect with you. Please reach out about next steps or to book a free consultation
