Hello, I’m Kalysha! I’m a Registered Social Worker who supports individuals and couples, ages 18+. At the heart of my work is a simple belief: some of the most meaningful moments in therapy begin with the presence of a genuinely curious heart. You matter and you belong - including the parts of yourself you may have learned to keep hidden. I bring a warm, compassionate, non-judgmental and collaborative presence.

I support individuals navigating anxiety, depression, emotional overwhelm, suicidal ideation, trauma, loss and grief, and relationship difficulties, among other challenges that may leave us feeling stuck or disconnected from ourselves and/or others. I also welcome the exploration of identity and self-worth, and tapping into a deeper sense of who we are beneath the demands and expectations of the outside world, and attuning to what feels meaningful and true to us. My approach integrates Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) among others, that is grounded in a strengths-based, trauma-informed, anti-oppressive and diversity, equity, inclusion framework.

I support couples navigating recurring conflict, challenges with emotional or physical intimacy, and difficulties communicating or feeling connected to one another. In our work together, therapy can offer a space for us to slow things down and better understand what you’re experiencing, while taking a closer look at the patterns, needs, and emotions that are shaping the relationship. My approach integrates interventions derived from Imago Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and principles from the Gottman Method, while utilizing an attachment and psychodynamic lens.

I hold a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Western University, and two Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Waterloo, with an undergrad specialization in Social Work and Individual Well-Being & Development. I have worked in various non-profit counselling agencies for 15+ years, taking on an array of roles to support individuals, couples and families, which include older adults, people with “dif-abilities”, and diverse communities. I have received training in a range of psychotherapy approaches, including those noted above, allowing me to draw flexibly from different therapeutic modalities and techniques.

In sessions, I see every client as unique and want you to feel seen, supported and safe. Within the first few sessions, we will explore what your therapeutic goals are and try to explore them in depth, so that I can hone in on this vision with you. If you’re simply seeking out therapy to process through the everyday life stressors as they arise, that’s okay. If your goal is something like, “I don’t want to feel as anxious or depressed,” or, for couples, “We want to improve our communication,” then we would take some time to explore what that would realistically look like for you in your life! It’s important for us to have a sense of direction, even if that direction changes along the way. As Yogi Berra famously said, if you don’t know where you’re going, you might not get there.

I have a particular interest in supporting individuals and couples navigating through relationship challenges -whether you’re single, dating, or married. Relationships may bring up uncertainty, hurt, and complexity. They can also offer opportunities for deeper connection, intimacy, growth and a greater understanding of ourselves and others. Relationship work isn't always about fixing the relationship with another person; sometimes it starts with understanding and nurturing the relationship we have with ourselves. I enjoy supporting individuals and couples who are feeling stuck and want to (re)build a relationship that feels healthy, secure, and fulfilling.

Another area that is especially meaningful to me is supporting people through loss and grief -whether the loss is of a person, a relationship, a life chapter, or something else deeply meaningful to you. For those navigating grief, the experience can feel incredibly isolating, particularly when it seems like others don’t fully understand the depth of the loss and the pain that comes with it. There is no set timeline for finding your way through grief, but I hope to offer a space where you can learn to live alongside what has changed, find your way forward and stay connected to what matters to you.

Outside of the therapy room, I prioritize creating pockets of quiet and calm in everyday -whether that be finding a scenic space and taking in the beauty of nature, enjoying slow mornings with yoga, meditation or a podcast, or settling into cozy evenings at home with warm lighting, music, and space to slow down and reconnect inward.

If you would like to connect further, you are welcome to reach out to book a session or schedule a consultation to explore any further questions you have.
