Beginnings...

Becoming a psychotherapist is a second career for me. For 19 years I worked as a Recreation Therapist with people who struggled with severe and persistent mental illness, and substance dependency.

For many of those years, I was in a case management role, but was always limited in the amount of 'therapy' and support I could provide the clients I worked with because therapeutic recreation is not a regulated health profession (like doctors, nurses, social workers, etc.). I went back to school during COVID to get my masters in Counselling Psychology, and am part of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). Having my master's and being part of a regulated health profession has given me more opportunities to assist people, in the way that feels right to my values and ideals.
Psychotherapy has become my passion - showing up for people when they need support, providing a safe, empathetic space where they can share their most difficult and vulnerable pieces to work towards understanding, healing, growth and recovery.
Life Sync Mental Health & Wellness
While I was completing my education, one of my co-workers at the time and I had a dream of opening up a clinic that offered psychotherapy, but also other holistic supports to aid in overall well being. Unfortunately due to life, this co-worker had to move out of province, but the dream still held for me, and so Life Sync Mental Health & Wellness was born.
Right now, the business is just me - offering psychotherapy to individuals and couples, people from ages 12 to 100. I am hoping to start adding some groups, therapy and opportunities for social connection and movement (like a local walking group) in the near future.

In time, the goal will be to bring on other like-minded providers who can offer other holistic wellness services, and more psychotherapy. Sitting in a room talking with someone is not the only way we can work through things...movement, art, connection with people who have similar struggles, and more, are ways we can also start the healing journey.

I hope you will join me as I begin this journey to bring wellness to more people in more ways.
